He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.
“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the government to suspend asylum applications and halt providing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to meet with the family.
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
