The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Critical Role Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series from Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece from the official score of the same name, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its opening appears as one of them.
