Law enforcement have made public shocking video depicting a motorist performing risky drifting maneuvers on a roundabout during an illegal car meet, placing spectators at grave danger of harm.
A 23-year-old from Southampton received a jail term of 27 weeks, deferred for one year, after admitting to dangerous driving.
Additionally, the court imposed a one-year license suspension and mandated community service along with a rehabilitation program.
According to authorities, the video was captured at an illegal car meet in Portsmouth on 28 December 2024, showing the driver operating a pink BMW.
“The video shows the alarming moment when a dangerous driver drifted around a roundabout at an unauthorized car meet, as crowds watched despite the danger of severe harm.”
Officials reported that over 200 offences related to unauthorized vehicle events in the region have been handled in approximately 12 months.
Notable figures from the enforcement effort comprise:
A police sergeant commented: “Local people, drivers and our roads policing teams have had enough with these groups of drivers thoughtlessly occupying public roads and car parks and we will not tolerate it.”
He added: “These events are not only a total disturbance, but they also place participants and innocent bystanders at danger of serious injury.”
He finished: “Our efforts will persist to take legal action against these individuals and I trust these recent cases act as a caution: you will face consequences.”
