Iran States It Could Resume US Nuclear Discussions provided that Handled with 'Dignity' and 'Honor'

Tehran is ready to reinitiate atomic negotiations with Washington as long as it is handled with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat stated only diplomacy was effective, and shared recent overtures had originated from mediators to resume talks with the Trump administration. He said Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect struck enrichment centers for security reasons.

Walking a Challenging Course

Araghchi is treading a complex path since Iran wishes not to be seen to be acting from a situation of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had come out stronger militarily and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the impasse in the prior discussions.

Earlier Discussions Abruptly Concluded

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had attained a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was agreed an local partnership with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material.
