Fresh Details Emerge Concerning the Finding of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains

Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the shocking deaths of esteemed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

A Discovery

A source indicates referencing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

The source also refuted published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
