Defiant Wilfried Nancy does not fear the sack yet the Parkhead faithful show anger following loss.

The under-pressure manager stated he did not fear the sack, asserting, “The team is very near to things turning around,” in the wake of edging perilously close to the exit with a comprehensive defeat by the Ibrox side.

A Second-Half Collapse Leads to Old Firm Disaster

Celtic had led the visitors at the break but a collapse after the break enabled the Gers to pull level on points with the reigning Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was hired in December, has now been in charge for six losses in his last eight games.

“The board and I are united at the club,” stated Nancy.

Pressed on the speculation, Nancy replied: “That’s not my focus. I think about working out methods to help my team to excel on details.

Protest Outside Parkhead

The fans voiced their fury – aimed at the dugout and directors – by protesting outside the stadium. Club directors are thought to be considering to bring back the interim manager, who steered the club during a temporary stint previously, if Nancy departs.

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the reality for the moment. But when I say this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am giving up. Not at all. What I mean we are on the cusp, imminently close to change the narrative.”

Focus on the Details

Nancy highlights the fact his team play well for one half at a time. Indeed, if not for poor finishing they would have been more than 1-0 up. “I saw enough except the fact that we missed our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay fair.

“The performance we had at stages was of top quality. That happened. I wouldn't speak so positively if it was untrue. Therefore, in terms of results, I mentioned we've seen this before. Which is why I feel we are nearly there to getting it right. But for the moment: the fine margins.”

“We produced plenty of positives that we did, once more. The issue now is consistency. My message would be different if I didn't believe it. That’s why I am a big believer we’re going to be able to fix this.”

Röhl’s Cautious Stance

Danny Röhl refused to contemplate a championship push even after what felt like a landmark win. “One match at a time, so we can gradually build a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the group is immense.”
