Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and played 18 times for the team, with four starting appearances.
He recorded his initial touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the passing of a player who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL stated it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
