Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a health issue she has been fighting in recent days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health before starting next year's training.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering in 2026.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the final set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

Raducanu told that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
